The concrete suggestions on what to do next are especially important - often I find I agree with the ideas or principles behind a piece of writing, but it's hard to figure out what to DO with it. Over the past couple of years I've been making a conscious effort to spend my money/time/energy on things which align with the kind of world I'd like to create. Not always (or even often) achievable, especially with a small budget in a cost of living crisis, but I'm increasingly feeling that my thoughts and actions need to reflect what we'd like to come next. Deprogramming from the neoliberal capitalist hellscape we were all raised in is going to take a lot of practice, and there's only one way that can happen... That, along with quality time with my spirits and non-human kin, helps me not to feel so alone or demoralised.
To add on to your point about masking to protect disabled loved ones - yes it's still killing people (and other animals!), and Long Covid is still a real risk for many of us. I think unless you've experienced it, it's hard to get your head around how much more difficult it is to get out there and nurture community/build the resistance when you're confined to your house or bed - not only due to lack of accessibility but also just because your body stops working in the way that you've come to rely on in all your years of relative health. People really don't want this, and I'd hope that people wouldn't want to be the reason it happens to someone else, either. With all the wildfires and H5N1 taking off, too, it's a great opportunity to find yourself a well-fitting respirator and, if interested, look into local advocacy for cleaner air.
This is all a wonderful addition Bec, thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this out. I can sense your passion (and frustration) in this response. Sending you and yours a big hug 💙💙💙
Thank you so much for sharing this, it had a profound impact on my system (of inner and outer spirits). My husband and I both read your newsletters, and he recently began your Mater Medusa course--the material is resonating strongly with both of us. Many thanks!
Yes. I have read this every day since you posted it. I'm digesting it and nourished by your wisdom. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Just: Thank you!!! <3

As a fantasy author, I love the shout-out to fantasy lit. Also great to see a simple list of actions people can take ❤️🔥
Every time I read that quote, I think of your fiction books!
